WEEK SEVEN

PHOTO NUMBER FORTY-THREE

Today, my parents are celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary. They are truly such an example of what love should look like. Even after all of these years, they are still best friends. We always tease them because they sleep in a full-sized bed which looks absolutely miniature when the two of them, and the dog, and the cat are all snuggled into bed together. I think that alone shows how close they are. I think it is common to drift apart after being together for so long. Your spouse becomes part of your routine and isn't necessarily the best part of your day. For my parents, it's different. They still dote on each other and go on dates. On Saturdays and Sundays, my parents spend time on their garden or updating the house. They talk on the phone every day and even go to the gym together sometimes. Despite all of this togetherness, you can see that they aren't sick of one another. They are so happy to be together.   Growing up, I don't think I ever really appreciated how lucky I am to have parents who are still so in love. They have taught me so many wonderful lessons over the years, but I think that it means to be a partner is the most important. I couldn't have asked for better parents. I came across this picture of these two love birds in a photo booth that was taken in college. Aren't they just the cutest?
