PHOTO NUMBER THIRTY-SEVEN
This photo will always be really special to me. I think it was maybe the third time I had ever held a camera in my life. I am where I am today because people like Bernard Gilette have taken the time to teach me. I cannot express my gratitude to those of you who have taken time out of your day to teach me a thing or two. You will come across people who will give you all of their secrets in hopes that you learn, and those are some that refuse to help you in hopes that you will fail. I have been blessed to be surrounded by people who are fighting for me to succeed.
One of my favorite things in the world is criticism. I know that may sound strange, but if it comes from a good place and isn't just straight up cruel, it is one of the kindest things another person can do for you. I usually seek it out on a daily basis, whether that be for my photos or my personality. I think constructive criticism gets a bad rap. It is an amazing opportunity to see how other people view your work. It has always baffled me that some people cannot handle it. Wouldn't you want to see how your work is received? Just because everyone will have an opinion, does not mean that you have to listen to all of them. Use their honesty as a way to see your work in a new light. Maybe they have a point. Maybe they don't. That is up to you to decide. You can't please everyone, but you can always improve something. It is a great way to see what you look like to everyone else in the market. Use it to your advantage.
